Summer on the Harbor

The rain has finally stopped, New England is drying out and getting out on the water. Luckily not much talk about gas prices heating up this year, just whether or not the temperature got over 62 degrees in June!

Regardless of the climate, we are busy finishing up some beautiful Wasque 26’s and starting work on our new cwHood 32 daysailer.

In addition, we will be posting photos at our newly completed Hood 43 and her performance stats. Please look for her at the following shows:

Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors – August

Newport – September

Annapolis (power) – October

Keep an eye out this fall for renderings and design pages on our new 49′ center cockpit sailboat which will be a true blend of performance and family cruising of comfort and safety.

Summertime Sights

It seemed so long ago but only last fall when Hollywood came to town. The movie ‘The Proposal’ starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds brought one of our Wasque 26’s to the set. The movie is due to be released next month. We are hoping the boating scenes made the cut and not the cutting room floor! Of course, the Wasque 26 is just as beautiful as the leading lady…..

Full Steam Ahead in 2009

It has been a busy year here at CW Hood Yachts. With much talk of the economy, political changes and how everything will look “down the road”, we are focused on servicing our customers with quality workmanship and creating an enjoyable upcoming boating season.

As our  Wasque 26 owners are  awaiting the first signs of spring, a new 42′ beauty is awaiting her debut.  The Hood 42 is near completion as the engines, systems and  interior are installed.

On the drawing board is a new 30′ daysailer. She will be a quick, well balanced little yacht as is customary with all Hood designed sailboats! Her timeless beauty and affordable price will be much appreciated in today’s market.

Other goings on… The C.W. Hood design crew is working with Styr Diesel to be the first New England Downeast hull with this promising hybrid power.

Hood 42′ Coming Together

The shop is busy sanding and fairing. The cockpit deck and super structure have been fit and all is taking shape. Interior and systems are coming together nicely.

The twin 550hp Cummins engines are due to arrive this week. Highly customized signature details such as aft glass bulkheads, pneumatic sliding panels, ergonomic helm station, chocks, etc. have all been designed in-house and construction is well underway.

Check back again for progress on the final fit and fairing which will take place over the upcoming weeks.
