The electric inboard sail drive from Mastervolt for the CW Hood 32 is now a reality! Powered by two Lithium batteries, all you have to do is turn the key and you’re on your way. The control panel and throttle are aft in the cockpit for easyaccess. Installation is a simple two bolt attachment and has a folding propeller for decreased drag.

An opportunity to get involved! Work with CW Hood Yachts restoring a 1972 HiLiner Sportsman to bring life back to a famously classic 1970 design.

The Sportsman will receive a new gasoline or diesel inboard/outboard depending on owners preference, new Awlgrip inside and out, new hardware, wiring, pumps, upholstery, etc. When she is complete this HiLiner Sportsman will be perfect in every way and better than the day she was built. Guaranteed to turn heads in every harbor she’s in.

The HiLiner is being brought back into production by Beach Island Boatworks and will be engineered and managed by the CW Hood Yachts Design and Build team. We are looking for a customer to work with us to restore this Sportsman so we will have a demo boat for boat shows. In return we will discount the cost of materials and labor for restoration.

If you are looking for an exciting restoration project and interested in working with experts in the field to create a special runabout, please let us know.

CW Hood 32For CW Hood Yachts, it was the year of the daysailer. Both Sailing World and Sail Magazine named the CW Hood 32 2011 Daysailer of the Year. In July, the molds for the boat were completed, changing the building process from the time- and labor-intensive one-off construction to the far more efficient “production boat” style of building. In November, Netherlands-based company Classic Daysailer was announced as the new European dealer for the CW Hood 32. At the time of writing, 4 of the daysailers are in production in our Marblehead shop.Wasque detail

This is not to say that daysailing is the only thing happening in Marblehead. The service yard has been working non-stop with refits, repairs, winterizing and the added excitement of hurricaine haul-outs for Irene. This year we welcomed designer Dave Robison, mechanic Will Parker, woodworker Chris Callahan, detailer Amy Hyam, controller Ian McGregor and boatyard dog Shep to our team. We launched an all-new website in May which is continuing to grow. Hull #44 of our downeast cruiser the Wasque 26 was launched in August and design for a new Wasque – probably 29 feet – is on the drawing boards with more cockpit and berth space than its 26’ counterpart and a new means of diesel propulsion. Just in time for the Newport International Boat Show in September, Katama 30 hull #25 was launched. Other boat shows attended included Chicago, Rockland, and Portland Maine.Katama 30

We are pleased to announce that Netherlands-based Classic Daysailer is now a dealer for the CW Hood 32! Visit them at www.classic-daysailer.com.
